Search Engine Optimization and SEO Web Promotion: Marketing Your Website for Maximum Results

Do you want to get a high ranking in the search engines? Then Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is something you simply must learn about. You can even do it yourself, if you’re so inclined. SEO web promotion methods change constantly, but for the most part, three important steps are involved:

Step #1: Use targeted keywords and keyword phrases on your website or blog. Make sure that these are the ones that your potential client will use when he/she goes searching for you.

Step #2: Build links to your own website by commenting on related forums and blogs that agree to let you use a link back to your site. Take some time to build responsible “back links” using these and other related websites and Web 2.0 properties.

Step #3: Take your time in getting the word out about your site, products, and services. Be systematic  when it comes to submitting your URL to web directories.

You’ll be surprised to know that this strategy for SEO web promotion can be cheap and, if you do it yourself, relatively free. There are lots of free websites and forums related to your niche.  Find and use related niche specific blogs, forums, and user groups to get the word out about your own website.

When it comes to promoting your products and services, however, don’t even think about overlooking the details. As in most exciting games (and getting targeted traffic can be quite a fun game indeed), you must know and follow the “rules”. Actually they’re more like guidelines than rules. Referring to the three steps listed above, those “guidelines” are as follows:

As for Step #1, be sensible about how often you place and emphasize keywords and keyword phrases (i.e., longtail keywords) in your website’s content.

As for Step #2, check out the methods other folks use for getting back links to their sites. There is a right way. The wrong way will get you banned on any one of about a hundred Web 2.0 properties.

As for Step #3, you’ll find hundreds of web directories, but not all of them cater to your particular niche. Find those that do and only post to about 10 different directories a week.

What’s the reasoning behind these “guidelines”? Eschew all spam! You see, the search engines will reward your SEO web promotion efforts if they see that you are taking time to get the word out about your site. Yes, there are real folks behind those search engine results pages (a/k/a SERPs). They hate spam as much as you and I do. Policing the ping-o-sphere is just one way they keep the traffic getting game flowing for all of us.
